How to check a pet's passport?

The Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) allows dogs, cats, and ferrets to enter the United Kingdom without quarantine, provided they meet certain conditions. In this section, we will discuss how to complete a pet passport. You can pause the video to read the information in each section. Sections in pet passports may vary or appear in a different order.

  • Section One: Details of Ownership Ensure the owner's information is filled out completely. If there's a signature box, it must be signed.

  • Section Two: Description of Animal Complete all mandatory information in this section, including the pet's name, species, breed, sex, date of birth, and color or coat.

  • Section Three: Marking of Animal Provide the 15-digit microchip number in the animal identification section. Include the location of the microchip and the date it was implanted or read. This date must be earlier than the rabies vaccination date.

  • Section Four: Issuing of the Passport Include details of the authorized veterinarian who issued the passport. Ensure they stamp and sign in the designated area.

  • Section Five: Vaccination Against Rabies. This section is crucial and prone to errors. It consists of three blocks:

    1. Vaccine Details: Enter the name of the vaccine product, manufacturer, and batch number in the first block.

    2. Vaccination Dates: The second block should include the dates of vaccination, validity period, and expiration date.

  • Section Seven: Anti-Echinococcus Treatment. In this section, the veterinarian must specify the product used for the dog's internal deworming. Include the medication name and manufacturer.

    • Ensure the date and time of treatment are recorded.

    • The veterinarian must sign and stamp in the designated area of the passport.
